FRANZ KAFKA SEZ...

Franz Kafka said, "Art is like an ice-axe...chipping away at the frozen seas of emotion inside us."

Whatever your creative bent--writing, acting, filmmaking or perhaps duct-taping sea shells to random bits of construction paper--are you wielding your Art like an ice-axe? Or are you afraid to stir shit up?

If my Art (which usually involves writing and directing pictures) gets under someone's skin, if it causes them to rethink any significant aspect of their life, then I feel maybe I'm on the right track.

Most especially if I use my Art to chip away at the vast frozen seas inside myself.

WELCOME

Welcome to "Release Your Inner Zombie", a Creative Blog by Austin, TX filmmaker John McLean...writer and director of the original movie musical, Z: A ZOMBIE MUSICAL. (Check it out at: azombiemusical.com.)

The goal here is to encourage, provoke and inspire Creativity in all its many forms.

Also feel free to take a look at the "Lights! Camera! Zombies" column listed on the right side, which detail the creation of an independent movie musical.

I originally got the idea to do a Creative Blog from my correspondence with viral video guru Kevin Nalty. If you wanna succeed in the viral video world, you gotta bookmark his bad-ass site, WillVideoForFood.com, and return to if often.

Thanks for reading! If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to drop me a note anytime.

Until then...

Release Your Inner Zombie!
